(Photo: SWE-DISH) STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN: August 21, 2007—Satnews Daily—Providing the military and commercial users the ability to communicate on Ku- and X-band satellite frequencies via two parallel, autonomous sets of terminals is a key effort by SWE-DISH Satellite Systems AB. This DataPath company has just been awarded a contract for several IPT Suitcase, Fly-Away 150 Lite and X-band kits from Paradigm Services Ltd., who is authorized to lead SATCOM procurements for military end-users within the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence.

The IPT Suitcase is small, ultraportable and supports Ku-band. With one-person operation, the unit enables live, 4 Mbps IP broadband transmission and10 Mbps broadband transmission using the L-band interface. The Fly-Away 150 Lite terminal supports X-band and weighs less than 32 kg (70.5 pounds). Its antenna has an efficiency gain of 80 percent. To decrease overall weight and for repacking in separate IATA flight cases, the cage and skid plate have been removed. The unit is totally optimized for quick departure and is airline checkable.
